I have not been a big fan of Perkins- but I had a coupon so I thought I would give them another try. I went for late lunch- I ordered the BBQ Bacon Cheese Burger (minus the BBQ sauce). I also got some mozzarella sticks and a Coke. The restaurant was dead empty at 4:30 PM. Cold air was blowing down from the ceiling vents and the room temperature was uncomfortable. Perkins seems to be trying to attract the next, younger generation of customers by playing some Sirius XM station clearly targeted to snot-nose Millennial's. Instantly forgettable music from "nobody" bands that was not attracting a younger crowd and is alienating to Perkins actual customers who seem to be mostly over 40. I was directly under a ceiling speaker and as I looked around for spaces without speakers so I could move and eat in peace there was unfortunately no where to escape the noise. My burger, fries and mozzarella sticks came out in about 20 minutes and the burger was actually quite good. I substituted A-1 Sauce for the BBQ and removed the offending lettuce, tomato and pickle (not in the mood for ANY veggies today!) and I enjoyed the burger. The bacon was a little more fatty than I would have liked. The mozzarella sticks seemed as though they might have sat in the window for a few minutes because they were warm, but not exactly hot, the way I like them. The waitress had an annoying high-pitched, high-rising-tone voice (like a bitchy, suburbanite, female Donald Duck), but she did her job. The whole deal cost me a little over $20 - kind of expensive for a burger, fries and mozz sticks. Perkins probably won't be a favorite of mine, but occasionally when I'm in the mood for something different I'll remember to stop in once in a while. ***************UPDATE 5-13-2015 ********************** I stopped in to Perkins again today and had the BLT. "Cat" was my waitress very nice and friendly! The BLT was good, but the bacon was too hard- beyond crispy, like "chew carefully or break your teeth" crunchy! It tasted pretty good , but I think the bacon had been made hours before. (see photo)

I have dined at many Perkins. Marisol (our server) has to be one of the best (if not the best) server we've had at Perkins. She was great...attentive to our needs. She's friendly and her demeanor demonstrates her willingness to ensure the customer is happy with the food and service. The burger along with all items we ordered were prepared excellent. I know where I'm dining when arriving to South Bend, IN or prior to departing South Bend. This location is off the interstate.

Abysmal. If you're looking to add a few hours to your road trip, this is the place for you. I'd review their food here, but I'm pretty sure it's never coming. Super frustrating and it's apparently the norm, since everyone is loping along like all's well.

Poor for a Perkins. Got an omelet, came out with Cheez Whiz on top of all things. The eggs were cool, filling was bland, and nothing was seasoned. The hash browns were undercooked; the top was not at all crisp. Not even a Denny's screws that up. The thing that killed me was that when the food got brought out, the waitress actually warned us that the plates were "very warm." And she was right: the plate wasn't hot, and wasn't cool. It was warm. Just warm. Well, it wasn't a lie, but boy was it lame. No heat on the plate, either in the food or the dish. While the other reviewers are correct in that it's not a gourmet restaurant, I could have done better eggs at home. And that's just sad.

Good food (both breakfast & lunch), good service, reasonable prices. The layout is a little more open and it is generally less busy and crowded than some other popular breakfast places near the Roseland area. Never had any complaints. I have never tried their pies & other baked goods, but they look really yummy.

Ate here while staying at a hotel down the street on a recent work trip. There was a layer of grease all over my menu and the dessert menu. I was eating later in the evening so I assumed it was just built up throughout the day. I ordered a sandwich and when it came it was on a plate that appeared to have the same layer of grease on it plus what looked like some dried syrup. Very little meat on my club sandwich and some of the bacon wasn't cooked throughout. I lost my appetite soon after receiving my food and ate very little of it. The fries seemed hot and my pop never emptied. Service was fine except the server yelled loud enough for the entire restaurant to hear each time she entered or exited the kitchen. Can't see myself being in the area again but if I was I wouldn't go here again.

When you first walk in to Perkins, nothing special stands out. Nothing that grabs the eye. It doesn't pose an unclean environment which Is something you come to expect while dining. I wasn't impressed with the bakery portion of the restaurant either, frozen fruits and syrups, nothing fresh. As for entrées I got what I expected, a decent omelet with burnt hash browns. As for their burgers, they took a pretty traditional approach with classics like cheese and pickles to burgers with onion rings and bacon all decently tasty. The service was slow, I ordered a pretty basic omelet and it arrived after my friend ordered one of their burgers. The waitress was pretty rude as well, impatient when we didn't give an immediate response. I wouldn't go back

They nailed my egg white omelet both days I ate here while staying nearby. Not sure why so many places have such a tough time with egg whites, but this wasn't one of those places. It was perfectly cooked and delicious. I agree with Mike's review - set your expectations accordingly based on where you're going. It's Perkins. If you come in expecting to be blown away that's your fault. But if you want decent breakfast, friendly service and reasonable prices - it's a-ok!

perkins is fine. any expectation of anything more is YOUR fault. their biscuits filled with fried chicken and cheese and smothered in gravy are rediculously good. again, for perkins. i shall return again and again. after all, 3 stars ain't all bad. it's just fine. and fine, as they say, is fine.

I visited here recently while in town for a wedding. After driving most of the day, we were looking for a decent place to eat that was still open near our hotel since we were not familiar with the area. We stumbled upon Perkins with zero expectations, as they are not around my home. I was completely satisfied with my experience. The service was helpful & polite, & the food was so good, we got dessert, even though we had no intentions of doing so. It's only drawback was that it was slightly more expensive than I thought it should have been. It's a nice family-style restaurant, with a nice selection of food. Definitely better than Denny's, in my opinion.

For the most part, your typical Perkins Restaurant. We visited this restaurant twice since it was right next to our hotel. One day the service was great and the next, not so much. The pricing is good for a chain restaurant. Comparable to Denny's or IHOP, but they do have a special recipe that makes their pancakes top notch. Plus, the bakery did have some fresh, mammoth muffins.

Food was good. Our server was EXCELLENT!!! I drink lots of liquids and she was more than happy to make trip after trip bringing me my raspberry iced tea! I shouldn't have gone for the pie after a wonderful meal, but I did and it was delicious.

Right next to the toll road. It's okay food reminiscent of Denny's and IHOP... with the dankity dankness of a run down Denny's. They have an extensive dessert case of pies, muffins and cookies that entice. I was never able to try one though, cuz by the time we got up to leave I'd be so full. But their chicken soup was note worthy to my cousin and I who are both from the west coast.. land of the most wonderous food finds in all of the United States. If you don't agree then bite it bitch. Note that this place and all other eating establishments in this town will be PACKED on game days at home. It was convenient because it's so close to campus.

Obviously you know what Perkins is. Basically Denny's, but a half-step better/classier. That isn't saying much, and this location is pretty stereotypical as Perkins go. Heavy interstate traffic means your mediocre fattening food will probably be prepared quickly and served efficiently, though you'll be able to quickly ascertain that your waitress is a townie and not a Domer (probably when she screws up your order in some small, existentially-meaningless way). If I had to sum up Perkins in one word: "meh."
